Ready, set, GARDEN...and move

Let the gardening begin!

The last few years we have had pot gardens (no, not what you're thinking...rather, a garden in pots). Our herbs tend to do very well in pots, but we have yet to be successful with tomatoes in pots. As you recall last year's garden's crop was stolen by some pesky rats, so this year we are fighting back and moving our garden. Scott and our neighbor Bob built 2 large beds in the backyard, which we will fill with tomatoes, peppers, green beans, squash, carrots, beets, and melons. This year we are sharing the garden with our neighbors, which justifies the large size. We have been composting all year, so our soil is rich and nutritious. We are also growing all our plants from organic seeds, which Scott mail ordered from Johnny Seeds in Maine (which means we get to choose from a variety of tomatoes and veggies not usually available at gardening stores.

So here is our garden now, little seeds beginning to sprout. Soon they will be transplanted outside. I can't wait for the garden to start producing!

HAHAHA!

I started writing this post a few days ago, but now it seems our garden is a no go =(

We got the disappointing news Tuesday that our landlord is foreclosing on our townhouse, and although we love it, it is not a place we would like to purchase (and we can't afford a purchase right now either). So that means we are outta here! Sad sad sad...I will miss my huge pantry and wonderful neighbors. Now we are on the hunt for a place that will rival our current abode: kitchen storage, washer/dryer, yard...those are the biggies. Wish us luck!
