5 months

Dear Jaynie,

How has it already been 5 months? You are still long and skinny, but are starting to look more like a baby and less like an infant now.
You had a tough time with formula, and weren't eating very much for a bit, but now we found a formula that agrees with you, and you are finally putting on some weight! Although you only eat about 20-25 oz per day, when you really should be eating 30-40oz. The doctor says it fine though, so we're not worrying about it.
Finally a family picture!
Rolling over is your new skill. You've mastered rolling from your tummy to your back, and almost always roll to the left. I think the reason you began rolling over is because you dislike being on your tummy so much! So far you only roll to get onto your back. We are tempting you to roll more by putting your toys out of reach, but so far the bait hasn't worked! But you do manage to wiggle all over your crib in the night. We put you to sleep facing one end of the crib and you wake up completely backwards.
You still love your jumper!
This month Carla came to visit. We went to the San Francisco zoo with Carla, and you brought your Sophie giraffe toy to show the real giraffes!
You're a lot smaller than a gorilla!

You also got quite a few Sunday dinners with Nonny, Grandpa, G.G. Marianne, Uncle Jason, Uncle Max, and Victoria. They love having you over. Aunt Kelly still watches you when Mom and Dad work.

I have a feeling you are going to be quite the talker later on. You love to yell, make raspberries, click your tongue, laugh, and experiment with all sorts of sounds.
For my first mother's day you gave me some nice RayBan sunglasses, and you tried to give me breakfast in bed, but Dad had to work in the morning, so I have an IOU for breakfast in bed! We spent the day prior to mother's day at the Lafayette Reservoir. We had a lovely picnic and then walked around the reservoir.

We can't wait to see what you start doing next month!
Love,
Mom & Dad
