Cool glasses!Our hotel rocked! We stayed at the Embassy Suites that was literally in the parking lot of the venue. We could wait in line at the venue and send someone back to the hotel room to fetch some cold beers. And after the shows, we were greeted in the hotel lobby by the general manager saying "Welcome home! We have 3 bars open and food!" They didn't even get mad when our friend Mike stepped into the glass elevator only to completely spill his beer all over a poor concert goer and the marble floor. Of course they didn't care, they could hear the cash registers dinging all weekend ($8 burgers after the show!)
Night #1:
We got in line at the venue at 2pm. The doors opened at 6pm. Yes, I know, that's a LONG wait. But really, the wait is like a big party...everyone was so excited! Unfortunately, as the time progressed, the line disintegrated and late comers smooshed in amongst us.

Scott and Chris start the LONG wait (with cold beer and tubes of glowsticks)It was a very unorganized mob of people. At 6, we were checked by security and moved into a smaller holding area. Only there we could actually hear the loud speaker announcing prohibited items (bottled water, glowsticks, weapons, cameras, etc.) The funny thing was that we stood there, already past security with our water bottles, cameras, and glowsticks, listening to that announcement. Good job security. I didn't get my purse searched any night. So the first night was crazy. Half of us were to run to the poster line, and the other half were to secure seats. Phish posters are limited edition pieces of artwork, and you can only buy 1 per person, so we couldn't very well send 1 person to buy all the posters. Scott and I ended up in the poster crew...I mean the sweaty meat grinder line (it was really that bad). We stood in line for about 30min., only to find out they already sold out of the poster we were vying for. But we got another one, which I love anyway.

Our poster looks similar to our ticketsMost of you are not familiar with Phish songs, but they opened with Fluffhead, the most complex song in Phish's catalog, which was a major sign that they are back and SERIOUS!

i think i saw on nicole richman's facebook that she is going to miss phish west coast. are you going to that?

your comments about the lines and people just made me anxious! it does sound spring break - everyone there to have a great time.
sounds like quite the fun adventure! It's really neat to hear about what the Phish experience is all about.
Fingers crossed that we get tickets for this summer. They're only playing 1 venue in CA, and it happens to be at Shoreline in the Bay Area...I knew there was a reason to move up here!
