Baby Shower...St Regis...Sapphire...Race for the Cure

What a busy Scrippsie* weekend!
* "Scrippsie" refers to wonderful, intelligent, attractive graduates of Scripps College. All the people mentioned in this blog entry graduated Scripps with me in 2001.
It all started Friday night when Devon secretly flew to the OC to attend Courtney's baby shower on Saturday. It was really only a secret for Courtney, who was dumbfounded at seeing Devon arrive at her shower with Katherine and me. We celebrated Courtney's future arrival of her "little man" with delicious salads, an adorable cake, and baby presents! It is amazing that a roomful of successful college graduates cannot figure out the uses of baby products...can you define a BOPPY?
After the shower, Katherine, Sarah Mac, Devon and I headed over to the St Regis Resort in Monarch Beach to enjoy Katherine's luxury hotel room compliments of her company (she was in town for a conference). Another Scrippsie, Sarah L, joined us at the St Regis for sunset cocktails on the patio. After a gorgeous sunset, 2 rounds of drinks, and an order of truffle sea-salt french fries; we headed to dinner at Sapphire in Laguna Beach. Due to a rain scare, our patio seating was delayed 30 minutes, just enough time for the 5 of us to drink a bottle of wine. Dinner was wonderful, but the highlight really was the cab ride home in the karaoke cab. I think Katherine was joking when she asked the driver if we could sing karaoke, but the driver was totally serious when he turned on the flourescent blue neon light and flashing strobe light in the backseat and started belting out "Galileo" by the Indigo Girls. Back at the hotel, we listened to a band in the lobby bar, then headed back to the room where we all promptly fell asleep since we are at the old age of 28. The next morning, Devon and I headed up to Newport Beach for the Race for the Cure (Devon ran the 5k, I walked it with Scott's mom). Check out Dev's blog for pictures of the race!
I want to thank all the wonderful Scripps girls for a FUN weekend!
