My new favorite restaurant! Scott and I stumbled upon Boulette's Larder in San Francisco's Ferry Building a few months ago, and were intrigued by the set up: a large open working kitchen, a huge communal wooden farmhouse table, a spice market, and a case of take out food. The small space was abuzz with chefs in the kitchen and guests sipping coffee at the oak table. We decided to try it out someday. Fast forward to last week...I read an article about where the chefs in SF like to dine, and both Alice Waters and Gary Danko were fans of Boulette's Larder. Alice loves their breakfasts. So that sealed the deal, we now had to have breakfast there! Conveniently, Scott and I dropped my brother off at SFO early in the morning last week, so on the way home from the airport we ventured to Boulette's Larder for breakfast.
Not only did we get to sit practically in the kitchen, but we were treated to a scrumptious breakfast. I ordered poached eggs with gratin of greens while Scott dined on scrambled eggs with beef brisket hash and tomatillo sauce. We shared toasted breads with sweet butter and organic fruit jam, and a carafe of blue bottle three african beans coffee.
Let me just say, my poached eggs were PERFECT, I have never had such velvety smooth eggs in my life! Everything was out of this world, and we hear they serve beignets on Sundays, so we will be back on a Sunday in the near future to partake in beignet eating (Anyone want to join in?)
